New Year, New Staging Advice?
Well-presented, staging living room
Now that it’s 2025, is there anything new and fabulous to know about staging?
Well… one of the things that we’ve observed is that home staging really is well established as one of the need-to-do tasks prior to listing your home. Gone are the days when bringing a property to market with messy, badly designed spaces will suffice. Buyers are expecting the courtesy of staging — yes, we consider it both a necessity and a courtesy. When you stage your property, you are showing respect to your shoppers, extending the goodwill to highlight the features of your home, without forcing them to overlook clutter, dirt, odors, and atypical room uses.
Some perennial good practices for home staging include:
—deep cleaning (including ceiling fans and vents)
—decluttering (removing excess furniture, accessories, trash cans, etc)
—presenting a clear floorplan (making sure bedrooms are staged as bedrooms; room use is standard and easy to comprehend)
—creating a unified “look” and color scheme
—keeping photos in mind (remember clients see your online listing first, so make sure your house is photogenic)
Keeping these tips in mind for 2025 should set a strong foundation for successfully bringing your property to market!
