What's Your Style?

When we work with interior design and decorating clients, we like to ask: What’s your style? As simple as this sounds, it can be a very difficult question to answer. That’s understandable, when you think of all the options available for furnishing, artwork, paint colors, tile patterns, etc.

One way to start to understand your personal style is to answer some questions that help narrow down the many options. Here are a few to get you started:

  1. What is a paint color you chose and still love?

  2. Are there paint colors you despise?

  3. What are the main clothing colors in your closet?

  4. Do you like cozy spaces with lots of objects?

  5. Do you like minimalist environments?

  6. Have you traveled to an area you are connected with?

  7. What furniture have you bought and still love?

You can see that the point of these questions is to get a mental image of objects and colors you love (or despise), and based on that information, start to craft an identity for your space. Once you have some key words and ideas, you can type these into Google and do an image search for spaces that might include some of your preferred looks.

We like to incorporate treasured items into common spaces so they can be enjoyed on a regular basis. Many of our clients bring out memorabilia from travel and family events, which they are always thrilled to see added into their main living areas.
